Recovery

Boy keeping up with this is tough! So Friday was redemption day. Kathleen and I set out for our 4hr ride, neither of us feeling whippy. As we turn onto the road that will take us 25miles BOOM we get hit with the meanest headwind I have ridden into in a long time. The whole time pushing into the wind I kept my mantra of what does not kill me...you know the rest. That and Jeramia was a Bullfrog....It just happened to be the last song we heard as we pulled in to the parking lot. Anyway we decide to head toward larkspur, hey this is nice I am going 39 mph uphill. Oh shit, that means I have to climb back out of here, most likely with a headwind. Yep, by the time we turned around I was going 8mph and my HR was at 81%. For 3:35 of the 4:08 we had a headwind. We climbed almost 3900ft and I was tired.

Yesterday I could not imagine running as my legs were fatigued just going up the stairs. Well it turned out to be a good run, I got in just over 13miles in a bit less than 2hrs. It was hot, but I ate and drank alot more than last week so I felt good. My energy was high but my legs and feet were shot. We then went to my friend Mary's for her little one's first birthday. It was one year ago that after I finished Ironman KFC that Mary had little Madeline.

Today is IMLou, what a great way to recover. I get to sit at the computer and cheer on those doing the race. It helps to get refueled and pysched up to train!
