This has been a great week. The workouts are going well and I am still excited to train. Wednesday Kathleen joined me for part of my long ride and we had a great day. No mishaps and everything was going smoothly. She rode 60 and I finished my 100 miles in time to eat, shower and walk the dog all before the kids got home. I am telling you it's not the training that is tough it is the rest of my day that follows the training.
Thursday morning I was tired. My legs felt great, but my head and mind were not into doing a long run. So I went and swam instead. This turned out to be not such a good choice as the water was freezing cold and I was not into it. So I got out and went to have lunch with my swim friends. Better choice, carbo-load for today's run. The run was great, better than expected. I was sure my pace per mile would be slower or the same as last weeks 17miles but it was 18 seconds per mile faster! Wow! I was very happy. I also ran into a friend of mine who I have not seen in many, many years. She was one of the people who got me interested in running marathons. I ran into her on the trail, both of us far from our homes, and it was good to reconnect.
I am so excited to watch IMH tomorrow. There are so many people I am cheering for, it will be a long day in front of the computer. Hopefully none of you end up there, but if you do a good friend of mine is working in the med tent. His name is Dr. Eddie Herd, he will hook you up to the good recovery stuff if you need it! Best of luck to all those competing, someday I will be back there!! Cheers!!
