Yesterday I did my first ever organized swim event. No big deal, you just show up with your team mates and swim as far as you can in one hour. Great! It was a yard pool. I am used to meters. And have I mentioned that I do not do flip turns? Yeah, so the combination was enough to make my low back feel like there was an elephant riding on my spine. At every turn, and there were lots of them, I tried to shake it off. I only stopped twice, once to drink and once to stretch my back. I think I did well, I always feel like I could have done better. Should have swam faster, pushed off the walls harder. There is always the next one. It is what keeps us coming back for more!
Reiley had a great game on Saturday. He scored his fair share of baskets and giggled the whole way. If you have never seen Reiley giggle it is something else. His whole body shakes, I have no idea how he continues to dribble the ball while shaking so much. It makes you smile to watch him play. Madie continues to improve in her swimming. Her coach has been pushing to move her up a level and she keeps coming back with maybe next week! I avoid him at the pool for fear he will tell me we have no choice but to move her up. This is her deal and I am letting her decide. So if she needs another week I will give it to her.
Larry's back continues to improve. He was taking down all the Christmas decorations and jacked up his back. Turns out he ruptured a disk, but it is healing on it's own so no surgery is needed. He has been spinning easy on the trainer the last few days and feels better every day.
I have yet to make plans for any races this year. I almost registered for IMLou again and then freaked out. I did not race well there last time. Stomach issues. But I had no issues in Az so is it the heat/humidity or did I figure out what to eat when? I also don't know what track my kids will be on next year so it is hard to know when is a good time to race because I don't know when they will be in school. Excuses, excuses.
On a sadder note, my "cousin" , he was actually my dads cousin, died this weekend. He was only 60 yrs old. He had had surgery on his wrist and died of complications a few days later. He was a fabulous musician and a wonderful man. He will be missed. Chuckie McCauley may you rest in peace.
Okay one last bit, my niece Emily is having surgery on her Kidney this week. Please add her to your prayers. Love ya Em!!! Cheers!
