Back to reality. After taking the red eye home, following it with 14 hours of sleep I am feeling ready to get back to reality. We had a great vacation, lots of laughs and fun in the sun. We spent every day at the beach, just what I needed. I rented a bike, thanks Ollie at Cycle Station for coming through on such short notice. Of course the days I had the bike were the windiest days of all time. Now I know you are thinking it's Kona, of course it is windy. Well even the locals said it was crazy windy! But I was not going to pay money to have the bike sit in the condo, so I rode! Or my version of getting blown to Hawi and back. We swam, saw the Whales, the dolphins and the turtles. Reiley got a new Turtle and Shark's tooth necklace. Madie collected seashells to "sell" to her friends! Quite the business-girl!! Don't worry, no lava left the island. It is funny that I have lived my entire life in Colorado and yet I could see myself living in Hawaii. I used to love the snow, now I dread it. Yes we have great weather and get to train outside most of the year, but I hate being cold. Really hate it. I will over-dress for most of the year just because getting cold is not fun!!
Today I hit the pool. Seeing as how I ran or biked everyday in Hawaii, swimming was more sight seeing than anything. I did lots of no breathing drills, he he! So I decided to get serious and start training. Right up until the point coach said lets do 2 x 600, 2 x 500, 2 x 400 and then we will start the main set. What the... Did I miss something while I was gone? I know Monday is distance day but when did you all become "distance" swimmers? This was crazy, it is only masters, who do you think we are. Okay brain time to shut up and swim. And I swam until my arms fell off. I do not feel so good right now. Even typing hurts. Not good to take so long off of real training. I am thinking of doing Lone Star half Iron, 8weeks to go. I guess it is time to get serious.
Kathleen has been out with some shoulder issues, I was hoping she would do Lone Star with me. We started out thinking she would do the Aquabike, as she has a tendency to get injured running. Now we have to find her a duathlon to go with my tri's! Hope you get better soon Kathleen!! Cheers!
