Another week down!

Sleep. It is what I crave, need, desire. And I am not getting it. Thursday night, after my 100 mile bike I was tired, but at 2 am I was wide awake with Reiley who was puking and had a 103.8 fever. I fell asleep at 6am only to get up at 7 to get Madie off to school. There was no running Friday but what I like to think of as active recovery, mowing the lawn, vacuuming the house, doing laundry, taking care of a sick one. By Friday night I was wiped out, and I slept. Saturday morning and Reilely still has a fever and now a sore throat, off to the doctor we went and sure enough he has strep. The good news is he is on antibiotics and will be felling better soon, the bad news is I have been exposed to strep. I still needed to do my long run, and it was almost lunchtime. I took a gel and some Gatorade and set off to do 3 loops around my house. This way I could check on my mom who graciously came over at the last minute to stay with Reiley. Thank goodness for moms! The run went well, it is very hilly out where we live, no flats to speak of, and I felt good. Total distance 17.25, I stopped running at 17 miles, I hate doing math when you are tired and trying to make a run the exact distance so you end up at your front door just as it is turning to that last mile. Good luck to everyone racing in Austin this weekend, I had all intentions of doing that race and then the market fell apart and I just could not justify it. Well that sums up my training for the week, now I hope to get some sleep! Cheers!!

HOpe you avoid strep. But if you get it, better now than race week! Nice job on the run and getting the training in with all the other stuff going on!
